Elective: Sound & Vision

More Elective work/experiments/sketches...

Elective: Sound & Vision

Here are some sketches and work for an elective I did on "Sound & Vision". The brief was to rescale, re-mediate and reinvent artwork for an album of your choice.
I picked an album called "Havens Fugle" ("birds of the garden" or "garden birds") which contains samplings of a tape that teaches you to recognize the calls of the most common (Danish) birds.

The original cover art is a very simple design, yellow and black.

It is very recognizable in a record shop, but has not been reworked for digital showcasing; it basically just uses a small version of the original cover. This is the area I chose to focus on.

Westergasfabriek

It didn’t make sense to make a very traditional brochure for the monthly program. The brochure is an A2 folded so that the individual pages are A5. It can be read as an A5 folder or opened up full size. On the back is a poster.

Bachelor project: Identity, building facades, campaign, brochure and web.

Westergasfabriek is an old gas plant in Westerpark, Amsterdam, which has been renovated and now serves as a culture park. The old industrial buildings are rented out to creative businesses i.e. galleries, design companies etc. For more information go to www.westergasfabriek.nl

Tuborg Campaign

The Tuborg bottle label is, in Denmark, synonymous with the Tuborg brand. The shape of the label was used as a frame, symbolizing that Tuborg sets the mood for and "frames" good experiences. School project, 2008.

Via Magazine

School project. Fictitious magazine, covers and spreads, inspired by a trip to Amsterdam. Traveler’s magazine, which would focus on a different city each time, or alternatively only be distributed in the given city’s tourist offices. 2008

Typograffiti

School project. The assignment was to create a “typographic statement in an urban environment” and to “explore how easily we can influence our surroundings”. We chose a dodgy underground passageway filled with graffiti, which we covered with white paint leaving only letter shaped areas of graffiti spelling out: Haderslev 06 (city and year) and graffiti gallery.
Assignment set by Richard van der Laken, De Designpolitie, Amsterdam.
